The formula
Drops = ⌈wall width ÷ roll width⌉. Cut length = ⌈wall height ÷ repeat⌉ × repeat. Rolls = ⌈drops ÷ (roll length ÷ cut length)⌉ × (1 + waste%).
Example calculation
A 13 ft wide, 9 ft tall accent wall, 20.5-in × 33-ft rolls, 21-in repeat, 10% waste:
- Drops: ⌈13 ÷ 1.71⌉ = 8 strips
- Cut length: round 9 ft up to a whole 21-in repeat ≈ 10.5 ft
- Drops per roll: ⌊33 ÷ 10.5⌋ = 3
- Rolls: ⌈8 ÷ 3⌉ = 3, ×1.10 ≈ 3 rolls
Result: About 3 rolls — keep one extra from the batch, as a bold print is hard to re-match.
