The formula
Drops = ⌈wall width ÷ roll width⌉. Cut length = ⌈wall height ÷ repeat⌉ × repeat (or wall height if no repeat). Rolls = ⌈drops ÷ (roll length ÷ cut length)⌉ × (1 + waste%).
Example calculation
A 12 ft wide, 9 ft tall wall with 20.5-in × 16.5-ft peel-and-stick rolls, no repeat, 10% waste:
- Drops: ⌈12 ÷ 1.71⌉ = 8 strips
- Drops per roll: ⌊16.5 ÷ 9⌋ = 1
- Rolls: ⌈8 ÷ 1⌉ = 8, ×1.10 ≈ 9 rolls
Result: About 9 short rolls — shorter rolls mean more of them, so confirm the length on the listing.
